Terms of Service
Draft — last updated [date]. This document describes how Talatick actually works today. It has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer; see the flagged sections below.
1. Agreement to these terms
By using Talatick — as a teen looking for work, a guardian, or an employer — you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.
2. Eligibility and accounts
Talatick is intended for teenagers looking for local, informal, or entry-level work, and for the adults and businesses who post that work. Sign-in uses a passwordless email link — there is no username or password to manage. Each account is either a teen account or an employer account, never both.
3. Teen accounts and guardian linking
A teen account can optionally link a parent or guardian by email. The guardian must verify the link (via an emailed link) before they gain any visibility. What a verified guardian can and can't see is described exactly in Section 3 of the Privacy Policy — in short, specific notifications and informal postings their teen has shown interest in, not a general view into the teen's account.
Some features — being found by employer search, in particular — are unavailable until a teen has a verified guardian, regardless of whether the teen has opted in to being searchable.
4. Employer accounts
Employer accounts can post jobs and, once they've paid for at least one posting, search teen profiles who've opted in to being found. Employers are responsible for the accuracy of their company information and job postings, and for complying with applicable labor law (including any laws governing the employment of minors) for any position they post.
5. Job postings and the browse page
Talatick facilitates connections between teens and people or businesses offering work — it does not employ, background-check, or vet every employer or informal poster, and does not guarantee the safety, legality, or outcome of any interaction, message, or in-person meeting that results from using the platform. Jobs surfaced on the browse page come from three different sources, and they carry different levels of vetting:
- Employer postings — submitted by a paying, signed-in employer account, and reviewed by us before being shown (Section 6). That review checks the posting's content; it is not a background check on the business or the people behind it.
- Informal postings — self-submitted by any adult (mowing lawns, babysitting, helping at a family shop), also reviewed by us before being shown, but we do not verify the identity, background, or business status of an informal poster beyond that content review. Concretely, this means informal postings connect teens — some of whom may be minors — with individual adults who have not undergone any business verification. Informal work does not carry the same legal protections as a formal job — no employer verification, no guaranteed workers' comp or harassment recourse.
- Formally-sourced listings — pulled from third-party job search sources (including Adzuna and general web search) and shown as-is; Talatick did not create these listings and is not the employer.
6. Content moderation and removal
Every self-submitted posting (informal or employer) is reviewed by a human against a checklist focused on risk to a minor before it's ever shown to a teen — see Section 5 of the Privacy Policy. We can reject a pending posting or remove an already-approved one at our discretion, with or without notice, if we believe it violates these terms or poses a risk to a user.
7. Fees, payments, and refunds
Posting a job as an employer costs a one-time $9.99 fee, charged at checkout. Full refunds are available any time, no questions asked, self-service, from the posting's own management page or by reaching us through Support. Requesting a refund closes the posting immediately as part of the same request.
Talatick Premium for teens is a $3.99/month subscription that auto-renews every month until canceled. A full refund of the most recent payment is available any time, self-service, from the Premium page — requesting one cancels the subscription immediately as part of the same request, leaving the rest of your account intact. You can also cancel by deleting your account entirely (Section 14), which cancels an active subscription as part of that deletion, or by reaching us through Support. All payment is processed by Stripe; we never see your card details.
Talatick also has a referral program: sharing your personal referral link and having someone sign up with it can earn you a free Premium month (teens) or a $9.99 posting credit (employers), once that person completes the required action. Credits don't expire and are applied automatically or through a manual redeem action. We don't guarantee any referral reward — it depends on the referred person actually completing the required step — and we can adjust or discontinue the referral program at any time.
8. Prohibited conduct
You agree not to:
- Post a job, message, or profile that violates our content moderation criteria (Section 6).
- Attempt to contact a teen directly outside the platform before a match is made through it.
- Misrepresent your identity, age, or the nature of a job posting.
- Use the service to collect information about teens for any purpose other than a genuine job opportunity.
- Interfere with, scrape, or attempt to bypass any part of the platform's moderation, payment, or access controls.
9. Your content
You keep ownership of what you submit (resumes, postings, profile information). By submitting it, you give Talatick the right to store it and display it to the users this policy says can see it (Section 3 of the Privacy Policy), for as long as your account and that content exist.
10. Disclaimers
Talatick is provided "as is." We review submitted postings but cannot guarantee that every job, poster, or employer on the platform is safe, accurate, or legitimate — see Section 5's note that moderation is not a background check or a safety guarantee.
11. Limitation of liability
This section will describe the maximum amount Talatick could be required to pay you if something goes wrong, and which kinds of losses (such as indirect or consequential damages) we don't take responsibility for. It is not yet written.
12. Indemnification
This section will describe circumstances, if any, under which a user agrees to cover costs, damages, or claims Talatick faces because of that user's own violation of these terms or misuse of the platform. It is not yet written.
13. Dispute resolution and governing law
This section will state which state's law governs these terms, where and how a dispute between you and Talatick would be resolved (informal negotiation, arbitration, or the courts, and where), and whether either side gives up the right to a jury trial or to bring or join a class action. None of that has been decided yet, and nothing above should be read as agreeing to any of it in the meantime.
14. Ending your account
You can stop using Talatick at any time, from your account page. See Section 7 of the Privacy Policy for exactly what account deletion does and does not currently remove, including how it handles an active Premium subscription. We can suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms.
15. Changes to these terms
If we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
